Alteration Policy

Built on trust between wardrobe owners and renters

A Community Built on Trust

WearPass thrives because real people trust each other with their cherished garments. This policy is designed to respect that trust β€” allowing renters the flexibility to style confidently while protecting the owner's investment. Every alteration decision should honour the spirit of this community.

βœ“Permitted Minor Alterations

We understand that minor styling adjustments can make a difference. The following alterations are permitted as they are fully reversible and do not structurally or materially change the garment:

βœ“Temporary hooks or eyes added to a blouse for better closure (must be removed before return)
βœ“Drawstring or nada adjustment on lehenga / salwar waistbands
βœ“Temporary safety pins for draping a dupatta or pallu β€” if they leave no visible marks
βœ“Using body shapers, padded inserts, or layering underneath the garment
βœ“Styling with your own belts, brooches, kamarband, or jewellery over the garment
βœ“Draping dupattas, stoles, or pallus in different styles
βœ“Steam pressing on low heat with a cloth barrier
βœ“Wearing a slip, camisole, or lining underneath for comfort

βœ—Strictly Prohibited Alterations

The following alterations are not reversible and structurally or materially change the garment. These are strictly prohibited and will result in security hold capture:

βœ—Cutting, trimming, or hemming any part of the garment or its components
βœ—Permanent stitching β€” taking in seams, letting out, or resizing
βœ—Adding or removing permanent embellishments, buttons, or sequins
βœ—Dyeing, bleaching, colour treatment, or fabric painting
βœ—Ironing directly on embroidery, zari, or sequin work (causes irreversible damage)
βœ—Using adhesive tapes, glue, or patches directly on the fabric
βœ—Any structural modification to blouse, choli, or kurta neckline / sleeves
βœ—Washing in a machine or using chemical detergents (dry clean only)

πŸ’‘ The Guiding Principle

Ask yourself:β€œCan the garment be returned to its exact original state after I undo this change?” If yes, you're likely within policy. If there's any doubt, reach out to the owner through WearPass chat before proceeding. Open communication strengthens our community.

πŸ’š Our Community Promise

WearPass is more than a marketplace β€” it's a community of people who believe beautiful garments deserve to be worn, celebrated, and shared. Every owner who lists a garment is trusting someone with a piece of their wardrobe. Every renter who books one is becoming part of that garment's story. Treat each garment with care, communicate openly, and remember β€” the person on the other side is part of your WearPass tribe.
