Garment Care Guide

Caring for someone's treasured garment โ€” a responsibility we share

๐Ÿ’š

Treat It Like Your Own

Every garment on WearPass was hand-picked, loved, and trusted to our community by its owner. When you rent a garment, you become its temporary custodian. This guide helps you care for it beautifully so it returns in the same condition โ€” ready for the next celebration.

๐Ÿ“ฆ When You Receive the Garment

โœ“Unpack carefully and take condition photos immediately (the app will prompt you)
โœ“Inspect for any pre-existing damage or issues โ€” report within 12 hours
โœ“Hang the garment or lay it flat to let any shipping creases settle naturally
โœ“Check all components are present โ€” blouse, skirt, dupatta, accessories as listed
โœ“Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight until your event

โœจ Preparing to Wear

โœ“Steam press on LOW heat with a cotton cloth barrier โ€” never iron directly on embroidery or zari work
โœ“Test any temporary attachments (hooks, pins) on an inner seam first to ensure they leave no marks
โœ“Apply perfume, deodorant, and makeup BEFORE putting on the garment โ€” avoid direct spray on fabric
โœ“Keep henna / mehndi fully dry before wearing โ€” wet henna permanently stains fabric
โœ“Use a garment liner or slip underneath to reduce direct skin-to-fabric contact

๐Ÿ‘— While Wearing

โœ“Be mindful of food and drink spills โ€” cover your lap with a napkin while eating
โœ“Avoid sitting on rough surfaces that could snag embroidery or delicate fabric
โœ“If dancing or moving actively, ensure dupattas / pallus are secured to prevent floor contact
โœ“Keep the garment away from open flames (diyas, candles) and burning incense
โœ“Avoid wearing near rain or water areas โ€” wet fabric can bleed colour or warp silk

๐Ÿงผ If Something Spills

โœ“Do:Gently blot (don't rub) with a clean dry cloth immediately
โœ“Do: Contact WearPass support immediately for guidance on the specific fabric
โœ—Don't: Rub the stain, use water, or apply any home remedies
โœ—Don't: Machine wash, soak, or use chemical detergents
โœ—Don't: Take it to a local dry cleaner without consulting WearPass first

Honest accidents happen. Report them immediately โ€” our community appreciates transparency over cover-ups. Early reporting often reduces the security hold impact.

โ†ฉ๏ธ Preparing for Return

โœ“Remove ALL temporary attachments โ€” hooks, safety pins, clips, belts, or accessories you added
โœ“Check for stains, loose threads, or any issues that weren't present when you received it
โœ“Fold the garment gently along its natural fold lines โ€” do NOT crumple or stuff into a bag
โœ“Pack all components (blouse, dupatta, accessories) exactly as you received them
โœ“Take condition photos from 4 angles before packing (the app will prompt you)
โœ“Use the original packaging or a clean garment bag โ€” avoid newspaper or printed material
โœ“Attach the prepaid return shipping label and schedule your pickup

๐Ÿ‘‘ For Wardrobe Owners: Preparing Your Garment

As a valued member of the WearPass community, prepare your garment with care so your renter has a wonderful experience:

โœ“Get a fresh dry clean before first listing and between bookings
โœ“Check all hooks, buttons, zippers are intact and functional
โœ“Ensure embroidery, sequins, and embellishments are secure
โœ“Include all components โ€” label each piece clearly in the listing
โœ“Take honest, well-lit photos from 4 angles showing current condition
โœ“Pack with tissue paper between folds to prevent creasing and embroidery transfer
